This comparative, interdisciplinary programs address socio-historical, cultural and political issues relating to African-Americans.

A minor in African-American Studies addresses socio-historical, cultural, and political issues relating to African Americans. This minor attracts students who plan to work in law, health and social services, education, business and industry, program development, or government.

Experiences and Opportunities

Join the Afrikan People’s Union (APU) which promotes cultural, social and academic events designed to celebrate Black culture. APU students host the Martin Luther King, Jr. Banquet, participate in the Black and Brown Bowling Tournament, and host other social events.

Travel abroad and study with programs in Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Morocco, Namibia, South Africa and Zambia.
